Shoesy AI — merchant docs
Shoesy AI is an AI Assistant that lives on your Shopify storefront. It answers shopper questions about products, sizing, shipping, returns, and order status using only your store's data.
These docs cover everything a merchant needs to install, configure, and run Shoesy AI day-to-day.
Pages
- Install guide — install from the App Store, enable the app embed in your theme, start your trial, confirm the widget is live.
- Settings tour — the status bar, the dashboard sections, tone, support contact, widget appearance, the Test assistant sandbox, FAQ, and custom rules.
- Chat links — open the assistant from your own footer links, buttons, and size-guide CTAs.
- Sizing setup — which brands ship pre-loaded and how the sizing engine decides.
- Billing — Starter, Growth, and Pro plans, what counts as an assisted conversation, switching plans, cancelling.
- Troubleshooting — widget not loading, chat not answering, sizing fallbacks, billing not activating.
- Shopper privacy — what the widget stores in a shopper's browser, for how long, and how a shopper can clear it.
What Shoesy AI is not
- It does not invent answers. If your store has no policy on returns or shipping to a country, the assistant says so.
- It does not pretend to be a person. Every conversation opens with a line saying the shopper is chatting with an AI, in their own language, and it answers truthfully whenever a shopper asks outright. That line cannot be turned off or reworded.
- It is not a marketing tool, an email capture, or a popup. It only opens when a shopper invites it.
- It does not replace human support. Anything it cannot confidently answer routes to your support contact.
- It never writes to your store. Every Shopify permission it asks for is read-only.
Before shoppers can see it
Three things have to be true, and they are independent — the dashboard's status bar tells you which one is missing:
- The app embed is on and saved in your published theme (Install guide, step 3).
- A trial or paid plan is active (Billing). Until one is, shoppers see no chat bubble at all — not a limited version of the assistant, nothing.
- Show the chat bubble on storefront is checked in Settings (Settings tour). It is on by default; turning it off hides the widget without uninstalling the app.
If exactly one of the three is closed, the status badge names it. If more than one is, it says Hidden from shoppers and lists every reason, because clearing one alone would still show nobody anything.
